Join us this summer in Harriston at the Minto Dance Academy as we present 2 fantastic weeks of Music and Dance for ages 3 to 8.
The full-day program will combine music and dance with other fun elements of being a kid. Students will have the opportunity to develop music skills through singing, rhythm instruments, and keyboard/piano playing. Music activities will also include games, music and movement, and music history appreciation through listening activities and children's stories. The dance components will be taught by my daughter, Julia who has been a dance assistant at Minto Dance Academy for the last 4 years. Students will learn the elements of dance and prepare routines in Jazz, Ballet, and Musical Theatre. There will also be themed crafts and a special daily themed activity. We plan to walk to the Mill Street park area for a picnic lunch each day if the weather permits. The days will be filled with fun as we prepare for our parent presentation at the end of the week. Students do not need to have any music lesson or dance lesson experience to attend the programs - they'll be busy learning new things all day. Students coming to the programs with prior knowledge of an instrument or dance style will continue to develop skills while having fun. Students should wear clothing and footwear that is comfortable and moveable. Students need to bring their own lunches and water bottles. A morning and an afternoon snack will be provided each day. On Friday afternoon we will be presenting a mini-production for your enjoyment. Students will perform musical and dance numbers that they have learned through the week. |
Rhythm and Song
Through a variety of rhythm instruments and summer songs children will learn notation, pitch, tempo, and dynamics, while developing their skills in a musical group.

Piano Time
Learn the basics of the piano through patterns, keys, and piano pal songs. If you already know how to read music this will be an opportunity to explore some new pieces and skills too.

Dance Routines
Develop movement and coordination and memory through dance skills and fun routines to kid-friendly music. Bring out your inner performer and light up the stage.
